HK PolyU + HOYA MyoSmart
Defocus incorporated multiple segment (DIMS) lens:
retard myopia progression
(include one after care with 6 month)
Mechanism of MyoSmart (DIMS) lens:
DIMS (Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segment) lens has lot of positive power micro-optical segments on the front surface. Those optical segments will generate an additional focal plane in front of the retina, which is named as "myopic defocus". The myopic defocus can guide the growth of eyeball and retard myopia. According to the research study done by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the myopia control (retardation) ratio can be 59%.
The Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments (DIMS) Spectacle Lens for Myopia Control awarded the championship in 46th Geneva’s Invention Expo on behalf of Hong Kong.
Candidate for DIMS lens:
- above 6 years old.
- myopia not more than -6.50D, astigmatism not more than -4.00D。
- fast myopia progression
- teens intolerance to contact lenses
DIMS advantages:
-
the myopia control effect is irrespective to direction of gaze
-
shorter adaption period relative to previous generation of myopia control lenses
-
myopia control with out contact lens
-
non-invasive, non-toxic because of no drug side effect
Note: The effectiveness of myopia control lenses will be affected by the design and wearing position of the glasses frame. In our optometry center, selected frames and dispensing devices for MyoSmart (DIMS) lens are ready.
